Connecticut History Connection

The 2^nd Connecticut Heavy Artillery Regiment of the Civil War will hold an on the Litchfield Town Green on Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors will see soldiers drilling, Civil War camp life, a medical display, a 19th century mourning process, and period toys. They can also meet personalities such as Harriet Beecher Stowe, Governor Buckingham, and other period speakers of the time. Civil War re-enactors will be at Camp Dutton, the original camping and training grounds located 1 mile south of the town green. Marking the 150^th anniversary of the Civil War, the encampment called “Litchfield Awake!” is sponsored by the Litchfield Historical Society and the Old 19^th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry.
