Judith, just found this site and your query. I'm researching my line of Fitch's also and have read quite abit of Norwalk's part in the colonial wars. In fact I grow up right next to Norwalk and know the region pretty well.. Moved north in later years.. I sent for a book a while back.. maybe you are familiar with it. " The Birth of Yankee Doodle" by Ferenz Febor. He lived in Norwalk for a time.. interesting reading and lots of details on the troops etc. I have a missing link in my family but pretty sure its one of Seymour Fitch + Eliz. Hoyt's sons Ezra Benedict Fitch b 1768. He with other siblings went to Walton Ny in late 1700's. Perhaps you are familiar with this family. The emigrant ancestor of course would be Thomas 1. The missing link is the father of Lewis S Fitch who was b. abt 1798 in NY. Was wondering if you may have anything further on this branch of family. I have a copy of "Descentants of Seymour Fitch and Eliz. Hoyt" There are 2 of these books in the Fitch family so I'm on the right track.. The author of this book is Edward Fitch. In it he say "Ezra come to Walton NY area also but little is known abt. him. He had a son Lewis" My Lewis S.. married a Polly Rose.. sons Thomas and Ezra..There are a few other Lewis' in this branch too but not the right ones.. From Lewis to my immediate family is clear sailing.. its just one link missing I'm sure. I hope you are having luck with your book and would like to get a chance to read it when the time comes.
Thank you for taking the time to read this "novel" sandee
